About Otto
Otto is the animated host of Half Handy, a YouTube channel where a confident beginner follows real recipe cards and real build plans. He gets a few things wrong first. Then he does them right, and you get a recipe that works.
How we check recipes
Before a recipe reaches this site, its amounts, temperatures and times are checked against at least two trusted test kitchens or official food-safety guides. Where they disagree on safety (for example how long leftovers keep) we follow the more cautious one. We then write every step in our own words for first-time cooks and add clear “ready when” cues. Each recipe shows the date it was last checked.
About the visuals
Otto is an animated character and the scenes in our videos are made with AI tools. Recipe photos on this site are illustrations.
Drinks
Cocktail recipes are for adults of legal drinking age. Otto never appears on them, and each one links to an alcohol-free version when we have one.
